Floral PaintingsMy interest in painting floral subjects came from my interest in gardening. All the flowers in my paintings are from my own garden. I mostly concentrate on rhododendrons, roses, magnolias and camellias. Camellias are difficult to grow in this part of Canada. Mine bloom the first of May and others in the fall. The camellia has been revered in Japan for centuries. To me, they are the essence of simple perfection of design as found in God's creation, both in bloom and their leaf qualities which I admire in the Japanese love of the beauty of simplicity in design. I have never been inspired to paint flowers, which I didn't grow in myself. I guess they lack the connection of knowing from growing. There is a selection of original floral paintings as well as prints. The following are watercolours and acrylics available as open edition Ciglee prints. The images are 13" x 10". They come matted and signed by the artist ready to be put in a standard 16" x 20" frame. Frame and glass are not included. Sign print with backing and mat: $36.00 US each. Shipping is not included.
